Three readings I am going to tell you about tonight.

Anne Michaels reads at Elliott Bay Book Company. The popular Canadian author of Fugitive Pieces reads from her second novel, The Winter Vault. And Midge Raymond reads down the street at Pilot Books. Raymond is reading from her first short story collection, Forgetting English.

And at the Sorrento Hotel, it's time for a symposium with Phil Campbell and Charles Mudede. Mudede, as you well know, is everyone's favorite Stranger writer. Campbell reads from Zioncheck for President, a very good memoir about being fired from The Stranger and becoming Grant Cogswell's campaign manager. It is of course being made into a movie even as we speak. I wrote one of my very first Stranger book reviews about Zioncheck, and I'm excited to see what they do with the film version. Maybe you can get some inside gossip about the movie tonight.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
