Now, let it be known right off the bat, this is a survey bought and paid for by Trojan condoms to promote its new "Fire & Ice" line.

However.

Here is what the number-crunchers at Trojan said, in an e-mail to me this morning, about what their survey of 1,000 Americans discovered in this here town:

Seattle survey data points include:

* Seattle is among the bottom-ranked city in terms of frequency of sexual intercourse (average times a year—Seattle 75; nationally 82)

* Perhaps this is because Seattlites are more likely than those in other top cities to have turned down sex because they were too hot (43% compared to 35% nationally)

* Luckily, Seattlites are on par with national levels in terms of the duration of the sessions (average minutes per session 27)

* Not surprisingly, Seattlites are more likely than average Americans to have had sex when it’s foggy (48% compared to 37% nationally)

* Seattlites are also more likely to have had sex outside (77%) compared to nationally (68%)

????!!!!????

This same survey found that Americans in hotter climates (like Miami) have more sex. And it "pegs 68 degrees as the ideal indoor temperature for sex and 70 degrees as the ideal outdoor temperature."

So let's get this straight...

Seattleites, unlike people in Miami, turn down sex when it's hot outside. And we have much less sex than other people around the country in general. But when we do have sex we like it outdoors (where it's rarely the "ideal" outdoor sex temperature of 70 degrees, which sort of cuts against the above idea that we're very temperature sensitive, but whatever). Also, when we do it, we tend to go for about 27 minutes, which is "on par" with the national average. Oh, and fog! So much fog! Yessss.

What can it all mean?

Could it be that we, as a city, need to start using "the only condom with a warming and tingling lubricant to provide pleasure in any weather"? Could that be it???
