No, it's not a huge cash injection or a bunch of growth initiatives, but you have to start somewhere: Starting July 17th, Pioneer Square will be hosting an outdoor market on Saturday afternoons.

The Seattle Square, located in Occidental Park, will feature a wide range of vintage and craft vendors; selling everything from locally designed clothing, to handmade housewares and accessories, to mid-century furniture. A rotating selection of Seattle’s mobile food vendors will be serving up a variety of fantastic eats set to a live soundtrack, hand crafted by a rotating cast of local DJ’s. Come take a stroll through Seattle’s newest outdoor market in its oldest neighborhood.

You can find more information about Seattle Square here. An outdoor market or other events in Occidental Park isn't anything new (there were free jazz concerts on Friday afternoons a few years ago; they were incredibly bad) but this seems like a good first step up from the waves of bad publicity Pioneer Square has been getting.
