Pretty dumb - nobody's tried setting off nukes that far down underwater - it will melt rock on surface, but it could easily fracture and make it worse that far down.

He must have watched that re-run of "Hellfighters" that was running on On-Demand last week. It doesn't work that well a mile underwater. And Will, Clinton explicitly ruled out using a nuke in his spiel. Remember Project Plowshare!

I don't think there's any quick fix. The relief well should have been drilled at the same time as the original. They didn't want to spend the money and Republicans let them off the hook.

@1 there was an oped in the NYT about it. Probably why Clinton brings it up. The idea isn't to nuke it, but to use controlled demolitions under the silt. And actually the Navy knows about blowing stuff up under water.

Being deep underwater doesn't mean we have to throw out our understanding of physics.

WB is pretty dumb. I saw him get clobbered on Jeopardy once.

I know Bill's got a drawl, but he sounds more mush-mouthed than usual. Drunk? Stroke? Dental work? What gives?

Like 5, I was going to mention WB on Jeopardy. I was embarrassed for him.

@6 I hear it in his voice, too. But he's getting the old man's voice?
