"Potty-Mouth Pigs or Hogwash?"

Posted by on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 10:12 AM

KOMO dives into the controversy surrounding some Shrek-themed paraphernalia being handed out by McDonald's, which some parents say expose kids to a crass word for female genitalia.

McDonald's official response:

We take seriously our responsibility of offering fun, safe toys to families. The phrases said by the Three Little Pigs Happy Meal toy are taken directly from DreamWorks' 'Shrek Forever After' or other Shrek movies, all of which are rated PG. The toy says the following phrases in random order, in a German accent: 'Yaaaa!, Hyaaaa!, Ohhh!, Uhhuh!, He hoofed! And he poofed!' We greatly value the high standards that families expect from us.

Here's one of a handful of YouTube videos showing the alleged potty-mouth pigs in action:

What do you think?

These people can't be serious. They must work for the Shrek movie, or McDonalds. That beardy fellow in particular is lying through his teeth.

Right - because THIS is important. No mention of the poisonous Shrek-themed glasses McDonald's was handing out? Did they do a feature on that? Or can't you say "cadmium" on television either?

I think these are Beavis & Butthead rednecks hearing whatever they want to hear and is actually offensive to people with German accents. What if these pigs had Asian accents and people said they were sure that the pigs were saying something else?

If these cudchewers are not members of one of those Eastside megachurches, I'll eat my circumcised foreskin. Whereever it is by now....

I heard pudding pop, myself. People are just overly sensitive and a little bit nuts.

I don't get it. What's it supposedly saying that's offensive? I also heard "pudding pop".....but maybe that's slang that I'm not hip to?

9, 10: People are allegedly hearing "pussy pork." PUSSY PORK.

These people hearing "dirty" things are clearly just projecting their own hang-ups... for all the world to see. Nice way to give their own children neurotic world-views. Confirmation bias-a-go-go.

This is right up there with the nincompoop who sued McDo for not warning her that coffee was hot when she scalded herself.

And the media just played right along, cuz really, there's nothing else important for which that broadcast time could be better used.

the problem comes when the two year old hears it. and repeats it.

Wow, 75% of slogsters think parents who buy their kids Happy Meals deserve what they get. I'm guessing not many people here were raised poor.

I'm fine with two-year-olds saying "pudding pop," which come to think of it is kind of an awesome slang term for heterosexual sex anyway.

I hate local news. Everyone is always just squealing.

Those toys are not approved for children under 3. They have special toddler toys available. In case you need to feed a 2 year old McDonald's crap.

If it actually says "Pussy Pork", I want one!! I'll add it to my collection of foul mouth toys!! Please tell me where I can get one.

How do they figure pudding-pop/pussy-pork is going to corrupt those little Eastsider minds more than pussycats and pussy willows?

Something tells me those folks aren't too good at figuring, though.

Why do newscasters insist on speaking with that weird contrived voice?

I am more worried about what the final pig says in the video. It says ""Iä! Iä!" I wonder if one of the other toys is going to reply with "Cthulhu Fhtagn!" Clearly McDonald's are trying to get our children to summon the hideous Old Ones.

Anytime some blow-hard brings up the McDonald's coffee case there is almost a 100% chance that they are talking out of their ass. The details are on Wikipedia. Look it up.

Thank you, McGee. that's one of my pet peeves as well. Most people think the woman who sued McDonalds over coffee was a "nincompoop" who was in the wrong, but nothing could be further from the case.

Really, Wikipedia as a reliable resource for information?
