James Franco's First Solo Art Show Opens

Posted by on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 11:20 AM

It is a "phenomenological approach toward the depiction of a masculine identity from childhood onward," I hear.

It involves a prosthetic penis worn as a nose by Franco, I hear. (Dicknose Goes to Paris is the name of the film!) Images here.

And here's the Wall Street Journal on the creative whirlythingy that is Franco ("General Hospital"!).

Flavorpill valiantly defends the Franco, announcing that its crush on him is intact:

As a highly attractive 32-year-old A-lister, he could be prime tabloid fodder. We could know all about his sex life and intoxicated antics. Instead, he’s actually sitting at home writing stories and making art because that’s what interests him. Regardless of the outcome, isn’t that kind of wonderful?

That's cute that he wants to make ~art~ but it's really bad.

Here are pictures from inside, Jen

It takes a special kind of churl to wish he'd stop.

I totally have a crush on Franco. And I love it that he's trying to make art, even if it's crap.

Go James!!

I know! It's practically unthinkable that someone who acts might have other artistic motivations!

I like James Franco. I like him more now that he's stretching his creative muscles than when he was just another pretty boy.

James Franco attended the California State Summer School of the Arts, a very competitive and rigorous arts program in souther CA. The top artists from throughout the country and even from Europe come there to train young musicians, dancers, actors, artists, filmmakers, writers and animators. The founders of Pixar came out of the same school. James Franco was a visual artist before the cameras found him.
