Civic Pride

Posted by on Sat, Jun 26, 2010 at 8:37 AM

This was posted yesterday but I'm moving it up to celebrate a new letter to the editor about our Queer Issue:

Could anything in print be more liberal and gay? It was laughable to see the overuse of rainbows in ads.

I simply must lay it out and cleanse it with some hetero jizz. At least I gleaned a Radiators concert date at the Tripple Door.

Peace,
One of your few local Republicans.

Enjoy the view, jizzy rainbowphobe...

You'd think that this happens every year in our gay-ass city, but nope. This is the first time ever:

Happy pride, everybody. And every time you see the Space Needle, take a drink!

Photo is via Anne Levinson, but used with permission from Seattle Gay News. Taken by SGN staffer, James Whitely and his nice Nikon.

Yes, another Pride Flag moment first.

I was snapping photos of it all through downtown this evening. A decided improvement!

LOVE IT.

Think of how amazing that would look if they had left the Needle painted orange.

I encourage everyone to contact city hall and the folks at the Seattle Center to thank them for putting the flag on the Needle. You can be sure that the usual suspects have their panties in a bunch and will complain about the flag.

Seems like he got so excited by the double consonant in his jizz that it carried over into Triple.

Happy Pride Day from a local hetero Democrat who can spell. It's sad that so many of my fellow heteros, mainly religious conservatives, continue to bash and judge people for who they're attracted to and love. I sure wouldn't like it if I lived in a world where the majority of people were homosexual and I got bashed for being attracted to women. Everything that I've read seems to indicate that Americans are becoming less prejudiced against gays & lesbians with each succeeding generation so it seems like this is one area where children have more wisdom than their parents.

"I simply must lay it out and cleanse it with some hetero jizz." = "I am strangely turned on by your stories of hooking up with Republicans, and got my spunk all over your fine publication while wanking to them."

@8 ... I loved the orange needle look. They should've kept it or maybe painted it blue or something.

That dude's a faggot.

And I'm not sure that the flag atop the needle would have ever happened had the parade not moved to downtown.

It's so queer that some people think "liberal" and "gay" would be insulting.

Now, "Republican"...

I rarely send e-mails of praise, and I should do so more often.

But I did send one to the Space Needle just now. It was short and sweet.

If you think the Space Needle's flag is a cool gesture, don't hesitate to e-mail your support to communityrelations@spaceneedle.com, which I believe is the appropriate email address for this. (Correct me if there's a better one.) It will only take a few seconds.

Ok, I'm a foreigner (or should I say...potential tourist!), and I think it looks rad. Nice move, Seattle!

This guy I know was upset that Obama's Socialist friends took down the stars and stripes and put up a different flag ("It's Nigerian, I think") for July 4th.

Seriously.

To really piss off that reader, we should announce Seattle's new flag is a huge rainbow flag with a HUGE cock right in the middle of it!!!

And make it mandatory to fly it from all the schools, churches, libraries, cop cars, fire engines...
