Full TILT

Posted by on Mon, Jun 21, 2010 at 3:43 PM

From the Institute for Southern Studies:

Workers cleaning up the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico have reported suffering from flu-like symptoms that may be the consequence of exposure to chemicals in the oil as well as the petroleum-derived solvent being used to disperse the spill.

The illness — marked by headaches, fatigue, upset stomach, and problems with memory and concentration — has been dubbed toxicant-induced loss of tolerance, or TILT. People suffering from TILT lose the ability to tolerate exposures to household chemical products, medication or even food, Dr. Claudia Miller of the University of Texas Health Science Center told WOAI TV.

This shit is just going to get worse and worse.

The people of the gulf states are becoming aware of the price of drilling off their coast. And the cost is just going to get higher. But more importantly, we have representatives in government who weren't blinded by the promise of jobs and taxes that offshore drilling brings. The gulf can thank conservatives for this mess. It's Dick Cheney's oil spill.

Is anyone comparing this spill and it's effects with the 1979 Ixtoc off-shore rig spill that gushed 130 m gallons into the Gulf over a 9 month period? Anyone get TILT from that? And what happened to the oil, ultimately? I'm honestly curious and think it would be a worthy comparison.

Oh definitely. I hadn't even thought of it until I saw someone discussing it on the CBC the other night, but with hurricane season commencing, the oil will be whipped into storms through large swaths of the Southeastern US, where it will enter the air, water and food supplies causing an explosion of cancers and neurological disorders. Good times.

Oh but we've got to protect BP from shakedowns by liberal Commie pinkos.

The people of the gulf states are becoming aware of the price of having a feckless inept impotent pussy as their Fierce Advocate.

Well, it's either the oil or the dispersant. And from my reading it's most assuredly the dispersant, not the oil.

So, "shit getting worse" only means overbearing Government action and stupidity, viz., spraying poison on the water when not needed and then telling workers to wade into it.

Sounds like some of the illnesses you saw at the beginning of the Exxon-Valdez oil spill.
