EARTHQUAKE WARNING!! FOR CALIFORNIA!! OREGON!! AND... UMM.. OTHER PLACES!!!

Posted by on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 12:41 PM

Look. You can either laugh at this guy, or you can bend over and kiss your ass goodbye. I'm choosing the latter. Actually, I'm going to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye, but maybe that's a little too much information at the moment. EARTHQUAAAAAAKE!!

Either he's a terrible, talentless, offensive comedian or functionally retarded.

Or possibly his mom and dad related to each other by much more than marriage.

LOL @3. That was the first thing I noticed too. Not only is this guy a frightening bafoon, but he has a telephone pole sticking out of his head. Classic!!!

I find this endearing. I'm pretty sure this person is mildly mentally impaired, and he's just playing news anchor. It's just a shame that he's ended up in the ocean of snark that is the Internets (not that I'm not a contributor). But in this case, he gets a pass from me.

It bugs me when people who know better fail to protect those who don't.

There's no snark coming from me: He's actually really sweet and cute. Reminds me of a kid I used to sit when I was a teenager. He was confident and extroverted like this kid is.

Did he leave out when the earthquake was supposed to happen? If so, he's right about everything, telephone poles included.

Whether intentional or not, the comic timing of his coughing fit is fucking genius

One quick point - back in "ancient times", it was usually the village savant who produced the prophecies, and were accurate. Just sayin'...

Dan, I have enjoyed your blog, column, and videos, but I do not know how to take this posting. "You can either laugh at this guy..." ? My brother is developmentally disabled with autistic spectrum disorder. Unless the young man in the earthquake warning video is acting I am pretty sure that he has some similar issues. I am saddened and disappointed that you have put so little thought into linking such a video and captioning it in this manner. I have looked at this young man's other postings and websites and more likely than not he wanted to participate in the on-line video culture like "normal" people and has not anticipated the cruelty and ridicule this will generate. I know that 'haters" are part of that culture but in working and living with the developmentally disabled I can tell you they often neither understand nor expect such cruelty as appears in the you tube comments. Though there are haters, we do not have to assist or contribute to them in such a situation. The flippant captioning to this video is not well thought out. My brother is 50 years old and through experience has come to expect the worst from people. I had hoped for better from a columnist I have come to respect over the past several years. Perhaps I am a politically correct humourless ass and I have personalized this too much. However, I cannot tell you the anguish I feel when someone calls my brother a retard and I see the impotent rage in his face. The nasty kinds of things said on the you tube page were the kind of things, pre-internet, said to my brother's face. I take some comfort in that the young man seems to be enjoying his postings, but I question whether your posting, in a popular and widely viewed blog will add to his joy or whether or not you took the time to even care.

I am from California and out here there are radio stations broadcasting his reports and he has a big fan base out here. Out here we absolutely love this guy. Lets not call out the obvious. Frankie has endeared our hearts to him. Lets show him the love that he deserves.

Peace and out.
