Dino Rossi "Prefers Republican Party"

Posted by on Thu, Jun 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM

We thought—because Dino Rossi strongly suggested so—that he'd be on the ballot this year as a man who "Prefers GOP Party" (with all the redundancy and possible benefits that come with that designation).

But no!

It turns out Rossi, who officially filed to run against Patty Murray this morning at 9:14 a.m., will be on the ballot as a man who "Prefers Republican Party." (Unlike 2008, when he ran for governor as a man who "Prefers GOP Party.")

I have an e-mail in to Rossi's campaign to see what accounts for the change of heart.

I'm sure the focus groups have decided that "Republican" doesn't equal instant electoral loss this time around.

The "republican" brand isn't quite as toxic as it was a few years ago. General polls still find republicans less popular than democrats, as a party, but not as widely as it was two years ago. Partly this is because Bush is gone -- finally. We can't use him as a whipping boy any more to beat up anyone affiliated with the same party.

Hey media, can you get this story straight? Where do I have to go to find the truth about Rossi? Last week everybody said he broke his tibia and now you're telling me it's his femur?!

You can't just throw words around as if it doesn't matter what they mean.

that's another small sliver of the idiot vote that won't be fooled by lame republican obfuscation.
