WEDNESDAY:

Progressive radio talk-show host Ed Schultz hosts a town hall meeting, live broadcast, and book signing tonight. According to Schultz's site, the ticket price includes a copy of his new book "Killer Politics: How Big Money and Bad Politics Are Destroying the Great American Middle Class". (Town Hall, 1119 8th Avenue, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., $20.)

Speaking of town hall meetings, the King County Ferry District is holding one to hear feedback about the West Seattle Water Taxi. King County Councilmember (and Ferry District Chair) Jan Drago will be on hand to answer your questions, but apparently won't be handing out any books. (Alki Community Center, 5817 SW Stevens Street, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

Sustainable Path: Our Food and Eating is the second part of the “Seeking Sustainable Systems” environmental lecture series. Britt Yamamoto of Antioch University and Mary Embleton of the Cascade Harvest Coalition will discuss food and "approaches to eating". (Town Hall, 1119 8th Avenue, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., $10 advance/$15 at the door.)

THURSDAY:

826 Seattle sponsors Dance your Cash Off, a dance marathon fundraiser for their writing center and tutoring programs. You wallflowers can still participate by ponying up to ogle the dancers and celebrity judges. (Nectar Lounge, 412 North 36th Street, 7:00 p.m. to midnight, $15 advance, $20 at the door.)

How does a naturalized American citizen decide to throw his lot in with extremist Islamists? Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ian Johnson explores the Roots of Radical Islam in the West, via his book "A Mosque in Munich". (Town Hall, 1119 8th Avenue, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., $5.)

Why did you leave out the Northwest Progressive Institute's fundraiser on Mercer Island, when The Stranger has repeatedly been told about it.
Is their prejudice against left-lib outfits that don't just make noise but get stuff done?

Ed Shultz a progressive? Sounds like our news intern hasn't done her homework.

Cato, "Progressive" here modifies "radio", as he appears locally on "Progressive Talk AM1090." - LP

Well I am sure Shultz is "progressive" if that means being a corportist Dem who has said on his show several times that Israel has the right to do whatever it needs to in order to defend itself. DAMN to anyone else. (yes he said that at a Town Hall in Seattle a few years ago and Mike Malloy nearly went ape shit over the comment)
