Today In Delicious Gaming

Posted by on Wed, Jun 2, 2010 at 2:53 PM

I'm not much of a board-gamer (Except Clue, nerds! Traverse Family Christmas Clue Showdown is the highlight of my year!) but I understand that Settlers of Catan is a favorite of board game aficionados.

If you enjoy Settlers, and also enjoy putting sweet goodness in your mouth, then you might enjoy Cupcakes of Catan:

Cupcakes of Catan is a fully playable version of the game made with seventy-three cupcakes by Flickr user “QuintanaRoo.”

Traverse Clan, I'm making Cupcake Clue next Christmas. Which is fitting since I always get stuck playing Mrs. White.

Mrs. White was, of course, played by Ms. Kahn in the movie and was thus my favorite. I love the scene where the Butler (Tim Curry) asks, "So Mrs. White, how many husbands have you had?" to which she replies, "Mine? Or other women's?"

@2 Clue is one of my (and my sisters') favorite movies of ALL TIME. Let's just say the Traverses have an unhealthy relationship with the entire Cleudo franchise. I can probably quote the entire movie.

"Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable."

also:

"I hated her SO much... flames... flames on the side of my face... heaving..."

and of course (not a Mrs. White line): "1 plus 2 plus 1 plus 1...."

Mary, I wrote a lengthy essay on Clue and its origins for a recent book you might dig:

Yay Mary! A Clue obsession runs in my blood as well... mostly for the movie, I'll admit. My neighbor and I held a Clue-themed party a few years ago, but I fear it was not as impressive as the one in your link. Hrmph.
