Eastern Plays: Say It In Broken English

Posted by on Tue, Jun 1, 2010 at 4:49 PM

The city is Sofia. She is Turkish; he is Bulgarian. Her father was attacked by a gang of neo-Nazi Bulgarians; he intervened and saved the Turk's life. He has fallen in love with her; she has fallen in love with him. And the language they use to conduct, share, exchange these new and wonderful feelings is the most rudimentary English—the language of international business is also the language for international lovers.

The movie, which is one of the best films in the festival, screens tonight at 9:20 pm.
