Books Reading Today: War, Bleak Short Stories, and a Brilliant Cartoonist

There are a ton of book events today, including a memoir of fighting in World War II, a couple of mysteries, and a book titled The War on Moms: Life in a Family Unfriendly Nation that reportedly "documents the long lists of inequities and difficulties faced by mothers and families."

Seattle Center today is hosting the Seattle Book & Paper Show, a festival of "collectible books, prints, maps, posters, photographs and ephemera for sale."

Sebastian Junger reads at Third Place Books Tonight. War is Junger's latest book. It has an ambitious title. It is about Afghanistan. In other interesting-looking traditional book readings, there'll be a Suggests popping up soon for Tim Johnston, who is reading from his collection of short stories, Irish Girl, at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. There will be a Suggests about this reading popping up very soon.

And at Fantagraphics Bookstore, Jim Woodring will be discussing his new full-sized comic book, Weathercraft. I love this book. You'll be hearing a lot about this book in the near future. Woodring is amazing, and this book is amazing, and you should think about going to this event.
