Winning the War on Drugs

Posted by on Fri, May 21, 2010 at 7:41 AM

Holy Corpus Christi:

Shortly after 8:00pm, a teen riding his bike through Waldron Park in Flour Bluff discovered what he thought were marijuana plants growing there.

Police later hauled away 300-400 medium-sized plants that they also believed was marijuana.

If fact, officers only stopped collecting the plants because it got too dark, and planned to return in the morning to look around for more.

However, after spending more than an hour removing and tagging the hundreds of plants, then hauling it all down the police department downtown, testing revealed that none of it was marijuana at all.

I mean this is just unbelievable.

Well a war on invasive plants might actually do some good

I hope the Waldron Park budget is compensated by the Corpus Christi police budget. That's just what public green spaces need: landscaping destroyed not by dogs or nature or inconsiderate civilians, but by the frigging police.

Cops I can believe not knowing what a marijuana plant looks like.

A teenager though? I am skeptical. I hope he is at home loling.

I agree, it is UNBELIEVABLE that a teenager would alert the cops to a forest of pot plants...

I'm with Asparagus!, I hope this kid is laughing his head off..........

we need more naturalists - not so much the naked kind but definitely the smart-about-plants kind. wouldn't it be a lovely world if everyone took out their field guides, sat down in the woods, and got to know the plants they walk past every day?

if i knew that kid, though, i would happily give him some pot. this is hee-larious.
