So Long, Fucker

Posted by on Tue, May 18, 2010 at 7:16 AM

Rep. Mark Souder (R-Ind.), a former congressional staffer who was elected to the House in the Republican revolution of 1994, has told colleagues he will resign Tuesday because of an affair with a female aide, a House GOP official told POLITICO.

What an ass wipe.

um...at least it wasn't an affair with a man this time. Good for him for still being into pussy. Even moreso, good for him for winning his party's primary first. That should really help screw up their chances in November. I just wish he could have waited a few more months to "come out" on this one.

Another hypocrite bites the dust. Maybe in another zillion years, the public will start to get the idea that people who live for telling other people how to live their lives, especially those who wish to harshly punish anything they see as personal immorality, might be carrying some of their own baggage/luggage.

@1: you, a living personification of an asswipe. not even clever enough to be a troll.

Hold on a second @2 -- I haven't read every shred on this guy, but what makes him a hypocrite? Has he campaigned on a platform of holier-than-thou moral rectitude?

Yeah, he might be an ass wipe re: students with drug records, but that has nothing to do with this.

@8, why is he a hypocrite? BECAUSE HE'S A REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN IN THE UNITED STATES. The end.

@10: that's lazy logic...

But all the same. Not sure if this is hypocrisy, but it's laughably ironic:

@12, how, exactly, is it lazy logic? Anyone who runs for and wins office as a Republican benefits (and suffers) from the public platform, perception, actions, and statements of the Republican party as a party.

The Republican party is objectively pro-monogamy, pro-abstinence, pro-Old Testament-on-sexual morality. Unless you specifically disavow those positions, your identity as a Republican is (and should be) assumed to connote support for those positions.

Has he disavowed those positions? (No.)
Has he violated the code of conduct clearly implied by those positions? (Yes.)
Is he therefore a hypocrite? (Yes.)

Exactly.

The shocking thing is he wasn't gay and raging against gays.

That's what passes for normality in Tea Bag Heaven - aka the GOP.

Er, @8: You do get that the story here is that he cheated on his wife? And you did at least glance at the story linked, that quotes the following passage from his website?

"I believe that Congress must fight to uphold the traditional values that undergird the strength of our nation . . . I am committed to preserving traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman."

hy·poc·ri·sy
   /hɪˈpɒkrəsi/ Show Spelled[hi-pok-ruh-see] Show IPA
–noun,plural-sies.

1. a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
2. a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.
3. an act or instance of hypocrisy.

Oh, and the video you linked to is not only linked in the original post, but also @7. Try to keep your eyes open, "Punditwatch".
