We have way too many events going on tonight, including a celebrated Latino poet who also read last night; a book about shop class; books about adoption, owning a llama farm, living in a harem; and a thriller that a bad writer described as an "exciting thrill ride from the very beginning."

Martin Jacques reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. The popular UK columnist reads from his book When China Rules the World: The End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order. I bet he'll probably have a thing or two to say about his new Prime Minster, too.

Charles de Lint reads at the Bellevue Regional Library. He writes fantasy novels. He has been writing fantasy novels for decades—he's a writer I read when I was a pre-teen—and he deserves accolades.

And University Book Store hosts Chelsea Campbell tonight. The Rise of Renegade X is an interesting-looking book for young adults about a kid who learns that he is the son of a super-villain.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
