Books Reading Tonight: Opera, Plummeting, and Highsmith-like

We have a couple of poets, a book about making 52 different loaves of bread in a year, a book by a local restaurateur, a book of short stories, a book about Italians in America, a book about why French women don't get fat, and much more tonight.

Gardner McFall reads at University Book Store tonight. McFall is a poet whose story is the basis for the opera Amelia, which everyone is buzzing about right now.

Poet Chris Nealon reads at Pilot Books tonight. Nealon has written The Joyous Age and Plummet. After the reading, he will also host Pilot Books' weekly writers workshop.

And Maile Chapman reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Your Presence is Requested at Suvanto is a novel that is allegedly creepy and Patricia Highsmith-like. I'm all in for Highsmithian books. Unfortunately, I didn't get a copy of this one, so I can't tell you if it is genuinely Highsmithian. But if you like Patricia Highsmith (and you should like Patricia Highsmith), you should think about giving this reading a shot.
