We have a novel about Iranian immigrants and arranged marriage tonight, a poet/translator, a true story about how money can't buy you love*, and a book subtitled Why We Must—and How We Can—Manage Nature for Global Prosperity.

Laila Lalami reads at a couple of locations today. Lalami’s debut novel, Secret Son, "is this year’s Seattle Reads selection for the Seattle Public Library and the Washington Center for the Book." This means that for the next four days, Lalami will read at various locations all around town. You can find out more about the program here.

Roddy Doyle reads at the University Village branch of Barnes & Noble. Doyle is famous for a bunch of great novels. Today he reads from The Dead Republic, which is his newest book, and the conclusion to a trilogy.

And Peter Carey reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Parrot & Olivier in America is a book by the popular Australian author, who has also written a bunch of great novels.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
