Reading Tonight: Stranger-related Events Everywhere!

We have a medical ethicist talking about death with dignity tonight, a novel that "gives Mr. Bennet of Pride and Prejudice the personality Emma always envisioned he might have," an allegedly humorous novel about being a working mother, a book about Living with Conviction in Challenging Times, and a few more book-related events tonight.

Pete Nelson reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. I Thought You Were Dead is a novel about "a down-on-his luck hack writer whose closest companion is a talking dog."

There's also the Silent Reading Party at the Sorrento Hotel, hosted by Christopher Frizzelle. These are a lot of fun, and surprisingly sexy. He's written about the party for the books section before, if you have any questions about what the event entails (although it really does just entail showing up with a book and reading).

The Hugo House is hosting an event tonight titled "She Said: Women's Lives Through Poetry and Prose." A number of notable women including Elizabeth Austen, Janna Cawrse Esarey, Midge Raymond, and Susan Rich read about "less obvious aspects of womanhood." David Schmader, who is one of my favorite ladies, hosts the evening.

If you include the American Psycho screening at Central Cinema hosted by Lindy West, that is a sum total of way too many Stranger-related events tonight.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
