Last week, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli debuted his conservative spin on the state's seal. The seal traditionally features the Roman goddess Virtus, having just slain Tyranny, wearing a tunic that leaves her left breast exposed. Going for a more demure look, Cuccinelli put Virtue in a turtleneck breastplate when designing new pins for his staff to wear. His pins were inspired by the 1861 seal of the Confederate State of Virginia, and coincidentally, he made them during Confederate History Month. Now, Cuccinelli is recalling his conservative pins because they were a stupid idea the media is mean.

Thus Always to Tyrants

From Cuccinelli's comments to The Washington Post:

I cannot believe that joking with my staff about Virtue being a little more "virtuous" in this antique version has become news. This is simply a media-made issue that has become distracting to the work of my office. I am going to end this distraction by discontinuing future use of the pin.

Personally, I do not want an end to this distraction. I want more distractions! I want a photograph of Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli suckling on the re-exposed teat of Virtue. Someone, please, make this happen.

h/t to Jen in Madison!
