Visual Art Boobquake, Art Edition

Y'all know about Boobquake, right? The blog joke that turned into a worldwide day-of-ladies-dressing-immodestly-to-piss-off-God-into-causing-more-natural-disasters?

Well, I'm taking a cue from Modern Art Notes today and doing the art version.

Boobpdates throughout the day.

(Yes, I realize these aren't SFW. But in this case, it's for a cause. I'm sorry! Scroll by quickly! I do not want you to be fired!)

This painting is dated circa 1594, and the artist is unknown. It hangs in the Louvre and depicts Gabrielle d'Estrees, the mistress of King Henri IV, and her sister, the Duchesse de Villars.

The sisters are in the bath, and Gabrielle's the one whose nipple's getting pinched—probably in reference to the scandalous fact that she's pregnant with the king's child. Both women are about to rise in rank, and they look pretty satisfied about it.

You all need to stop bothering with NSFW and SFW. Nobody at the Stranger gets it and acting like you do just gets innocent readers in trouble.

Just declare the whole Slog NSFW and everyone will know to block images from here when they read it at work. It will be better for everyone that way.

Boobquake is awesome by the way, though I'm not certain who it was this time who blamed boobs for God's wrath. Pat Roberson? Ahmadinejad?

I say go for it, and ignore the NSFW whiners.

Anyone with half a brain should realize that SLOG is a NSFW website, period. If you work someplace that gets their panties in a bunch over stuff like this, you'd be smart to just avoid SLOG until you get home.

@4, you may not care if people browsing at work leave Slog, but the Stranger should. They're a good portion of the ad revenue here. That kind of calculation might be beyond the capacities of a fine arts major like Jen, but you'd think Keck would catch on.

I don't get what's so hard or horribly oppressive about just using a cut.
