We have books about Seattle's old hotels; a detective on the trail of geoduck poachers; a story about how the Congo sucks, especially if you are a woman; a collection of spoken word authors, and much more tonight.

Popular young adult author Ridley Pearson will read at University Book Store's Mill Creek store. Pearson's new book Kingdom Keepers III: Disney in Shadow is a creepy-looking adventure book about a group of kids who have to band together to save Disney World from evil threats. The book is published by Hyperion Books, which is owned by Disney. This makes me want to vomit.

The main branch of University Book Store hosts William Dietrich tonight. I will recommend this reading based solely on the book's synopsis: The Barbary Pirates: An Ethan Gage Adventure is about a pirate who has to stop a death ray. Dietrich is a local author, so he'll probably be reading at other locations real soon, too.

Town Hall hosts Roger Lowenstein tonight. Lowenstein is the author of The End of Wall Street. That's what I call a hopeful title. You can read an excerpt of the book right here.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
