OMG. That is so incredibly adorable! This is precisely what Easter is about: jellybeans, plastic and/or dyed coconut for grass, chocolate bunnies, bunny and chicky plushies, and 5kg of sugar packed into a bite-sized delight like that which you created.

BTW, they make Cadbury Maple Creme Eggs in Canada, although some years it's harder to find than others. It's like taking Cadbury another notch.

Meghan, Thank You! Those are Beautiful! Send me a couple, OK? Happy Easter, SLOGGERS. Tesla, Russell Stover has maple creme eggs, too. I've been eating a couple big ones per week for most of the last month. The drugstore ran out a couple days ago. (I'm in NW Penna.)

You lost me once the jelly beans got involved.

This made me hungry for a Dairy Queen Cadbury egg Blizzard

1. Nice job! Very cute. Love the grass.
2. That looks like the most disgusting thing ever. I would rather eat one of those chicken patties instead of buns concoctions from kfc.

Those are really, really cute. Too bad I'm too sick and contagious to go to Easter tomorrow. But I did make up over a 100 candy filled plastic eggs for the kids to search for.

Happy Easter SLOG PeePS !

Feel better soon, Linda with a y.

Nice job, Megan. Those are very cute.

I'm going to make a key lime pie, instead of cupcakes. Mike and Ike jelly beans gave me a craving for lime margaritas on the rocks and key lime pie.

Cheers!

It's a cute idea, but were they any good?

Megan, if they weren't so cute I'd think it might be time for an intervention.

Those cupcakes remind me of the late, lamented Russell Stover coconut egg nests wherein a bunch of green-dyed coconut was kneaded into some 100% saturated-fat white-chocolatey stuff, hand-formed into little bird-nesty shapes, and then a few jelly beans were pressed into the top. Weirdly delicious. Sometimes I could eat three before wanting to hork.

Now the only coconut nests you can get from Russell Stover are ones with too little coconut and too much super-cheap milk chocolate molded instantaneously into one little puppy-shit-looking pile.

A hard-boiled quail egg would make for a better surprise.

Helpful Hint! If you put the Cadbury eggs in a paper bag and shake them in flower, it will prevent it from sinking to the bottom of the cupcake, but rather stay right in the middle... where it should be!

Stagg chili was 10 for $10 at QFC, so I bought 10 cans.

I wonder if I should feel sorry.

@22: A can of Stagg chili in Canada will set you back $3.79, tax excluded.

That last photo of the finished product looks like two big, gaping mouths. I'm pretty sure they're saying, "Your baby will never get to sleep."

Looks, shmooks. Lots of wonderful food looks horrifying (gumbo, anyone?) This takes me back and makes me happy. And you had me at "Cadbury".

Megan, these are adorable, but after finishing a M. Stewart butterscotch blondie and black coffee, they make my stomach turn over in distress.

That's what I thought too. They look like they're in love and puking together. Maybe they have a puke fetish?

I tried these out today after my husband mentioned them. I hadn't known about your suggestion to coat the eggs in flour first though. All in all they turned out great and I'd make them again given the chance.

@33 This post went up on the 3rd, her post went up on the 5th. She used the big creme eggs, though, and froze them. I used the mini ones, and did not. So it's likely no one stole from anyone and we both just had the same idea.
