How can people be surprised that atheism is up among folks under 35 when; the Feds are running raids on Christian militants, women are blowing themselves up in crowded subways in the name of Allah, and the Pope comes out as a friend of pedophiles everywhere, all in the same week?

@3 Indeed. From my understanding, you have to give up something that you have/do.

For example, the Catholic Church could give up shoving dicks down little boys' throats for lent.

Is that how it works?
