Asked last week what he thinks about the proposal for a new Chihuly museum at Seattle Center, Mayor Mike McGinn said, “Whatever we decide, we are not going to do something the public doesn’t like.” Asked to clarify—how he would figure out what the public likes—McGinn was uncertain. “I think the way it has been set up, the public views this as public space being used for private industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, tourism officials are reportedly trying to counter that perception by filling the room at a public meeting tonight last night (6:30 p.m. in Center House Conference Room A) to make their case for the pirate's glass showcase.
