Glenn Beckwatch: A Book Shall Come

It's a banner day for Mormons in publishing. First, Stephenie Meyer announces a new book, and then Glenn Beck shares more information about his upcoming novel! According to Gawker, it'll be titled The Overton Window (named after a political concept that explains how radical ideas are edged into the mainstream.)

The way the synopsis sounds, it could be Beck's 1984:

"[Beck] described [the novel] as 'a story of America in a time much like today where the people are confused,' with a government in crisis and the rise of a citizens' group called the Founders Keepers, which 'leads to a battle and a civil war, and life is upside-down planetwide.'"

Fuck. I'm going to have to review that one.

I'm surprised he didn't title it "Founders Keepers Losers Weepers".

I highly doubt he wrote it. Considering all the "books" he's written, all the different genres, and the rapid turn-around time, I smell a ghost writer.

Microsoft Word drafts (with track changes on) or GTFO!

I hope someday soon this man realizes his dream to be thought of as the reincarnation of Thomas Paine will never ever ever ever happen. Idiot.

I don't think you should review it. I think you should let it pass by untouched.

Sounds a lot like the plot to The Turner Diaries, except he'll probably leave race out of it.

Our government is in crisis? Really?

Paul, in all seriousness I think you should throw up (pun intended) the rights to review this on the next Strangercrombie auction.

You should find somebody who might possibly be expected to give it a positive review. Everybody knows you're going to trash it so what's the point? Somebody who likes it and doesn't drool on the keyboard would be write an interesting piece. I bet Stanley Fish will find nice things to say about it.

Can't wait. I hope I don't spill my skinny vanilla mezzo all over my iPad right after I download this gem.

Beck looks like he's having a hard time pinching a loaf in that picture.

If Beck insists on demonizing "progressives," can we start calling him and his ilk "regressives"?

I sincerely hope his idiot followers don't read between his lines and start shooting. Obviously an out-of-shape middle-aged chicken hawk like Beck is too much of a doughy pantsload to be of much use in a real revolution, but his ratings seem to depend on appearing to be trying to incite one.

@15 No but you don't!

Your joke is good but Not A Pun! A pun is based on a homonym. ONLY. "I'm gonna send you to the Punn-itentary in Punn-sylvania."

"Throw up" ISN'T A PUN. both words are still what they are. The context may change the meaning, but that's just CLEVER! Not a pun!

*end nerdy rant.

Paul, Dorothy Parker already did it:

"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."
