The Time Has Come to Discuss the Most Recent Episode of RuPaul's Drag Race....

Posted by on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 10:46 AM

And to protect those souls who haven't yet caught up, all spoiler-filled discussion will come after the jump.

To quote the mighty Ru, "The library is OPEN!"

JessicaWild3.jpg

No! NO! Jessica Wild! Coke-a-dordle-DON'T!!!!

Still, fair enough. She's a clearly wonderful person, but in the competition, she's kinda been sliding by on charming awfulness (see her "RuPaul impersonation"). Nevertheless, she will be seriously missed.

As for the rest of the episode: I love love love the lacing of gay issues through the contestants' mid-challenge conversations (gay marriage! mind-warping childhood homophobia!) and look forward to this gay-mentoring vibe being carried out in next week's "drag up your forefathers!" challenge.

Also, as I learned from the "throwing shade" mini-challenge, I could spend several hours a day watching drag queens take turns insulting each other.

Also also, I'm totally rooting for Jujubee. (Though her habit of freezing during a performance in a way that surprises even herself could be a Drag Race deal breaker.)

Let us close with a final farewell to Jessica:

"The....oooooh!" indeed.

It should have been Tatiana. I am sick of her Drag Character. She's too Britney Spears for me, and she turns into (more of) an airhead in drag. Out of drag, I like him.

I'm guessing Ru kept her for the drama that will most certainly ensue between her and Raven.

Next week I hope it's Tatiana or Tyra then Raven after those two. I love JuJu, but I'm truly rooting for Pandora.

I love Jessica and, while she was the weaker of the two when she was lip synching for her life, I was still rooting for her. So sad she is gone from the show.

I know its not her thing, but Pandora needs to suck it up and pour on the glamour so Santino can jump off and let her win this thing for once. She and Jujubee are both Charismatic, Unique and Talented. Juju needs to work on her Nerve a bit in performance and Pandora needs the balls to go full out diva. I think Raven is too laid back and demure during everthing. She never really goes full throttle.

The Other Tyra and Tatianna can both go home. Neither is a "superstar".

yeah, tatiana should have gone based on the episode, but her lip synch was much better. the episode preview looked good, and i'm in the same boat as @1: i want tatiana and tyra to go home next. a final three of raven, pandora, and jujubee would be amazing

Oh, Jessica. You will be missed. She was just so generally both upbeat and totally weird.

Juju's definitely my favorite now.

I think Santino's beef with Pandora is that he has a thing for her and finds her mildly titillating, which bugs him. It's like he wants to tweak her ever so slightly do be more demure or dirty/sloppy so he can feel okay or ditch his feelings toward her. But I'm probably reading waaay too much in to it. Maybe he's just jealous.

After this week's episode, I am nursing a passionate dislike for Raven. Frankly, I want her to go home next. I like bitches, but Raven has gone well beyond bitch....

Pandora Boxx has no chance of winning this competition, does she? She doesn't have the style! Why not try looking like Carol Channing more frequently, rather than Courtney Love?

7: Totally! Everything Pandora's done outside of Carol Channing has looked straight out of Hole's "Malibu" video.

@7: as well documented here, I've never been able to stand Raven. She hasn't done enough to justify her level of bitchery, and isn't even all that entertaining to laugh at (at least Tyra's Beyonce obsession is funny).

Also: the phrase "to read" meaning "being hilariously bitchy about someone else" is amazing and I need to use it more often.

I like Pandora just because she is the dark horse of the one's who are left at this point. It would be great to have her win and be Jay from Season 1 of Project Runway. (Remember his quote? "Always the bridesmaid but never the bride")

Andis it just me or is RuPaul's Drag race fun because it's how Project Runway and Top Chef were like during their first couple of seasons before they became over sponsored and hyper-corporatized?

The other Tyra and Tatiana are both annoying little bitches. Pandora=super fun, Jujubee is just adorable and bitchy at the same time (so gaysian of her), and Raven is the only one that is even marginally good looking as a man, and still can be a sassafrass in drag...it should be between those three in the end.

Tyra once again skated by on her good looks. Her cover and concept were pretty generic. Jessica's might have been a little spastic, but it suits her persona dammit.

I agree, Tatiana should have gone home, but see aforementioned pretty-girl bias.

You got she male!
I love this creation of Ru's.
So bummed Jessica is gone. She was the funniest and best try-er ever. She became my #1 with that chicken routine, then the bride & groom photo's. Funny stuff. I loved her interview too " I love this drink" and "owww this drink is so good" . I'm so sad she's gone.
I sure wish it would have been Tati . . .she's such a bore - not interesting, funny or much of anything at all . . .but Jess just didn't even lip synch and that was her demise. I think Ru would have kept her but for that.
Oh well. . .I got JuJu and Boxx left at least. I hope they can power up some more edgy wit and glamour to get a bit over the top and beat those other two.
As for Raven and Tyra. . .they are really good and they aren't afraid to get cut throat that's for sure. I just get sick of Raven's fake demure Paris Hilton lowered eye thing that she does every single time. It's not even convincing - you know she's not demure at all. Tyra has such a bratty personality. I can't bring myself to root for these two.

I could hardly believe it when Tatianna got all uppity about skirt length. Her too short skirt and too long skirt were like 2 1/2 feet of difference! don't act like Santino's splitting hairs, miss priss! and the poor thing couldn't rad the other girls, call the wahmbulance.

I agree that Pandora could step it up a bit, she deserves to win, Tatianna's too young, inexperienced and unwilling to teak criticism to heart, Tyra's too obsessed with being Beyonce and that's just fucking weird, Raven just needs to get over herself and have a good time, and poor Juju, while hilarious and brilliant is just a little scattered and needs to pull i together. Ritalin maybe?

Oh AND, I can't be the only one who thought Ru's Valley of the Dolls getup at the judging was absolutely hideous! That lip color was totally heinous and the headband made her look like a pea-headed horse. Love you Ru!

I am rooting for Juju all the way! I know Tati is stuck up but I do adore her and she is my second hope. She just needs time to mature. Tyra, on the other hand, now that heffa needs to get to stepping! She is too full of herself.
