Navy Man Bites SPD Officer

Posted by on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM

Following a night of city-wide St. Patrick's Day celebrations, a car carrying two allegedly intoxicated males crashed through several barriers meant to keep vehicles off of Seattle Center grounds, after which one suspect began kicking and biting officers, according to the SPD blotter.

Officers responded to a call yesterday at 1:25 a.m. at the Seattle Center to find two subjects "clearly intoxicated," according to the blotter. When officers tried to take one of the suspects into custody for DUI—a Navy man on active duty—he resisted by biting one officer on the hand and kicking him, repeatedly.

Then, as officers attempted to put the suspect in the patrol car, he rolled onto his back and kicked out at them, clipping one officer's chest and hitting the other officer's leg. Eventually, he was transported to the North Precinct. Here, the suspect got belligerent, repeatedly asking,“This is how you do the Military?” and “What? So now I’m some kind of —— terrorist? I blow —— up?”

When an officer asked how the suspect thought the Navy would feel about his behavior, he replied, “—— the Navy!! I don’t give a ——- about the Navy!!”

Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. They are requesting additional charges of DUI, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run, and Trespass.

But the real question is: is even this level of degenerate behavior sufficient sufficient to even get him discharged? Which, in his case, given his clearly demonstrated love for his service, I hope they DON'T.

In short, the worse punishment I can imagine for this guy is to KEEP him in the "____in' Navy"...

Being a wife of a former navy man, I was under the impression FTN was a pretty universal mentality among sailors. Most of them don't scream it out loud, though.

Oh Seattle Police. I want to trust everything you tell me, but should I? You've lied to me before about this kind of thing and now I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to show me the video.
