Congressman Baird, Your Constituents Want Health Care Reform

So says the Washington Community Action Network, which drove through Washington's 3rd Congressional District and collected these messages to currently "undecided" Rep. Brian Baird:

Meanwhile, candidates in the race to succeed Baird have been applying pressure on one of their opponents, Olympia Democrat Denny Heck.

Baird, who has endorsed Heck, told us he agrees with Heck's broad-brush stance on the issue, saying, "It's not his job to take a position on this bill."

As a Republican, I have made my decision.

We must pass this health care bill in its Reconciliation form.

That means that the funding should come from an Asset Tax on dividends and interest income.

The reconciliation package would keep the Senate's tax but scale it back, while adding a new Medicare tax on wealthy taxpayers' interest and dividend earnings.
