Seattle artist Victoria Haven, Parallel Universe-style.

Theres No Place Like Home... (2010), pencil on paper, 50 by 38 inches, not for sale

Here's a detail so you can see what those faint lines are doing up there in that left-hand corner: They're spelling out the names of garagey bands and their songs. It looks like a drawing of the j-card of a mixtape. And the mixtape looks to be called "There's No Place Like Home That's Why I Left."

The more "refined" work sold out of the Kucera Gallery show; it's the kind of work Haven is known for. The other work is listed as "NFS" (not for sale). Is that because Haven doesn't want to part with it, or because somebody (Haven, Kucera) thinks it wouldn't sell? Would it? Would it have to be priced differently because it's not Haven's usual work? In Parallel Universe, rules are unclear.

"There's no place like home" is an awesome piece. I saw it painted on a wall at Lemon Lime - SO cool. I would buy it. or hire her to come to my home and paint one on my wall. or something. SO cool.
