Biology is Beautiful

I have a thing for biologically-inspired painting, so I was pretty excited to run across artist Klari Reis's work. It's microbial, bacterial, and pretty. A recent installation, called "Hypochondria", consists of hand-painted petri dishes mounted in groups. Sweet.

Her blog (where the above images are from) is a collection of 365 petri dishes she did during 2009.

Nature as artist as perceived by genius. I love it.

Some of the best art I've seen has been that which you can't see without a very powerful microscope, in the microbiology chip fabs.

Nifty.
