First things first: Did you know that the City of SeattleSeattle Parks and Recreation sends out all of its press releases in Comic Sans font? It's true! They've used Comic Sans for years, and they probably always will. As an example, I'm showing the first paragraph of a press release that came in to The Stranger's e-mail just a little while ago:

It is a press release promoting the many "spring egg hunts and celebrations" going on in Seattle's parks. The fascinating thing about the press release is that it uses many Easterish trappings—"hippity hop" as a verb, "a large pink bunny" posing for photos, and this phrase, that I can't bring myself to type, so I've lifted it from the document wholesale:

—but it never once uses the word Easter. Separation of church and state, y'all!

Anyway, if you want to read awkward Easter-less Easter announcements about Seattle's many Easter-less Easter celebrations, I've copied and pasted the whole thing (not in Comic Sans, unfortunately) after the jump. I have an e-mail to the city for comment on their horrendous font choice, and I'll let you know if they get back to me.

HIPPITY HOP DOWN THE BUNNY TRAIL WITH SEATTLE PARKS AND RECREATION

As sure as the cherry trees and daffodils are blooming, it’s time for spring egg hunts and celebrations. All events take place on Saturday, April 3, are free and begin at 10 a.m. — unless otherwise noted. Prices for optional pancake breakfasts at select locations and the underwater egg hunt vary from $1 to $5. For more details on any of the spring egg hunts, please contact the facility directly.

Southwest
Boys and girls ages 3 to 11 will have a great time at the spring hunt searching for chocolate eggs, candy and prizes. The hunt will begin at 10 a.m. sharp. Please come early to find the hunting area for your child’s age group.

Little kids 0 to 12 are invited to hippity hoppity along the bunny trail to Montlake Community Center, 1618 E Calhoun St., to hunt for eggs. There will be a costume contest and a coloring contest. Egg hunts will be split among age groups 0 to 3; 4 to 5; 6 to 8; and 9 to 12. A large pink bunny will pose for photos in the meadow grass. Teens ages 11 to 17 are invited to bring a flashlight for the Teen Flashlight Egg Hunt. Search in the dark for eggs that contain candy or a certificate to claim a special prize. The hunt is sponsored by Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Montlake Community Center Advisory Council. Please bring a bag to place eggs in, a warm jacket in case of rainy weather and a working flash light.
