Mobile Chowdown III: Seattle vs. Portland

Posted by on Fri, Mar 12, 2010 at 11:10 AM

This post is by Chow intern Annelise Ogaard.

The ultimate food truck rally is back tomorrow, taking over a parking lot next to Safeco Field for another round of vehicular-dispensed eating. This time a handful of culinary ambassadors from Portland will be joining Seattle standbys like Skillet, Marination Mobile, and Top Pot Doughnuts.

Portland guest vendors include Burgerville, which has a menu that’s like McDonald’s except sustainable and actually good, rolling Korean barbeque joint Koi Fusion, fry cart Potato Champion, and Whiffies, which serves nothing but fried pies.

This week's Stranger contains some fighting words from our neighbors to the south—including from Gregg Abbott of Whiffies:

We're pulling out all the stops, for sure. There's no question we're the odds-on favorite. We're going to smoke their asses.

But in a food fight like this, we are all winners (or, as commenter Blackjack eloquently puts it, "The only loser in this battle will be my toilet").

Check the Chow Calendar for more gluttonous events.
