Crazy Christian Lady Asks Jesus To Give Crazy Christians Total Control Of The Media...

Posted by on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 8:03 AM

...so they can do "kingdom work."

So... I wonder what would the Stranger look like if we allowed local Crazy Christian Ken Hutcherson to guest-edit an issue and gave his crazy complete editorial control...

"Crazy Christian" is kind of overkill - both words mean the same thing.

In addition to being crazy, this woman is co-chair of Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign's Faith and Family Values Coalition.

This crazy bitch missed some important Sunday School lessons somewhere along the way. Didn't Jesus say something about giving away all your worldly possessions, living meekly and simply, letting God decide who is worthy and who isn't, etc.? Here, she's praying for untold wealth and influence?! Exactly who is she praying to, Mammon? The Devil? Oh, wait... she'd need a soul to bargain with the latter. Never mind.

@9, and wasn't there also something to the effect of, "there is none righteous, not even one"--meaning that we are all sinners, even those following Jesus and being all, you know, saved and stuff?

Of course, then there were people who were called out by name in the bible as righteous men (Noah and Abraham, I think--oh, and that nasty daughter-diddling Lot, too... stay classy, bible!), but I sure don't see her name on the list.

I just quit my job in local TV. For those of you who think there's a big plan and a big agenda good or bad in what you see on TV...you're wrong.

The truth is all of us who work in TV are just too plain lazy to plan that far ahead. If we knew how to do anything else we wouldn't be working in TV.

Yeah, because if all media proclaimed Jesus's greatness 24/7 we'd all convert within a week. Because the only reason all those atheists, agnostics, and people of other faiths aren't Christian yet is because they've never heard of Jesus. Is she mental?

Amen! Nothing is impossible to God there are no mountains that cannot be moved by Him.

Greater have fallen, there was a time when the roman empire persecuted Christianity and today most of what remains of them (statues and otherwise) rests within the wall of the Vatican Holy See of the Roman Catholic Church.

Just like with Paul and the roman empire God has the power to turn the persecutor into a believer that ends up working more for His glory.

...I am asking God to take power and influence of the media of this country and of the globe from the unrighteous and give it to righteous people. Let's quit talking about sound-bites and having little clips of -- no, no -- I wanna own these networks! To make CBS the Christian Broadcasting System. I pray, Father, for more, for more influence."

So she thinks an omnipotent being who is responsible for creating everything in the universe could have as much influence as Oprah Winfrey if only he could purchase a television network?

These people believe in a pretty wimpy version of omnipotence.

I'm not sure that I get the whole "Crazy Christian", other then it works as an alliteration. I've heard better prayers, it came across as staged, instead of heart felt. That is only my opinion, though.

In the interest of honesty and fairness, I must confess that I hate the word crazy. Therefore I am likely missing the point. In my opinion it is fine to disagree with someone, it is fine to dislike someone, but calling someone crazy just comes across as dismissive and discrediting. Plus, it only provides more "evidence" to support the idea that "Christians are being persecuted for their faith" lament that we hear of. Stick to addressing the issues i.e. the position/values being expressed, it will serve us all better.

"but calling someone crazy just comes across as dismissive and discrediting."

Most of Slog posts ( especially those of author of this post ) leave no ambiguity about what they think of and what they want to do to practicing Christians, and it's not pretty. Needless to say that the author is an avowed atheist with an ax to grind because 'he' doesn't like what the Scriptures say. To pretend that this post is somehow out of line with their way of thinking, is to be insincere.

Guess what, Loveschild? It is a free country and I get my own opinion. I don't care if you find my opinion sincere or not. Am I clear?

"Most of Slog posts ( especially those of author of this post ) leave no ambiguity about what they think of and what they want to do to practicing Christians, and it's not pretty."

Comments like that sound paranoid. Unjustified paranoia. The author is more likely to suffer physical and emotional harm by you and so called "Christians" who use the scriptures as justification for abuse, than you are likely to suffer abuse by the author. Homophobic people commit more crimes against gays than "avowed atheists" and gays combined commit against Christians. It is a fact, so don't pull any news reports from Sky Angel up.

Do you know the author? Is the author your friend? Has the author confided anything to you about his "ax to grind"? If not, then you're making assumptions. Assumptions make you look bad.

By the way, the real Dan Savage, not the media personality, but the husband, father, brother, uncle, son, nephew, son-in-law, and friend reflects more of G-d's goodness, and more of the passion and compassion of Jesus towards the suffering then you do here with your rants.

I bet that the people who have had their churches vandalized, businesses mobbed or been fired from their jobs, thrown out of neighborhoods by gay mobs and who've been physically assaulted would certainly disagree with the above statement.

And venom @45, sweetie, I know your ignorance and arrogance are mostly due to your age and that until you're somewhat older your rebellion will continue. But none the less, I will remind you that there are many people that have lived the gay lifestyle who have turn their lives around and are now straight. Who are you to deprive them of their right to share their message of renewal with others ? ( think about it ) Both them and the rest of society who believe in the reaffirmation of core Judeo-Christian principles and consequently the preservation of the basic social cultural unit ( the family ), should not have to keep quiet in fear and surrender their neighborhoods, communities and the education of their children to the promoters of the well funded gay lobby just because people like kim are fond of throwing the word homophobia at anyone that stands up for the rights of self determination and values for their communities.

"I bet that the people who have had their churches vandalized, businesses mobbed or been fired from their jobs, thrown out of neighborhoods by gay mobs and who've been physically assaulted would certainly disagree with the above statement."

We aren't talking about your group escorted from Castro, or the young lady who was thumped on the head with her Bible. Or the church that was vandalized with glitter. Or the ones that were vandalized and the police could never determine who the culprits were. I am talking about people who have been beaten to death, lynched, fired from their place of employment, and thrown out of their homes. The sheer volume of numbers of cases with documented assaults, where the victims were assaulted because they were either gay, transgendered, or presumed to be gay out number your 'suffering saints'. All violence is wrong, but these situations don't compare. Glitter on the alter does not compared to being beaten to death in New York because your attacker didn't like that you were walking out of Mass arm and arm with your brother. Your 'saint' got out of his truck grabbed a baseball bat and beat someone to death (a Christian too), because he assumed he was gay. And, you had the audacity to suggest here on Slog that it was the man's fault, because he should have understood that the driver might be offended by his gay-ish behavior.

"This not to put blame on anyone but shouldn't the Ecuadorian brothers been more careful and avoided walking hand in hand so as not to raise suspicions and bring undesired attention onto them. I think they should have know they could be mistaken for gays and that some sensitivities would have been ticked by what they wrongly thought was an open display of gay behavior.
That's not to excuse their murder but that point needs to be looked at more.

Ah, yes. The chosen few who have purged themselves free of the 'homosexual demons' and now sell their advice books for $59.99 an instillation.

They out-rightly know that 'the gay' is a result of an unsatisfactory relationship with their father. Or mother ...Or friends. ...Or pets. ...Or city ...Or the mountains that ain't high enough. Either way, they KNOW and that's what counts. And that you buy their $59.99 (tax not included) books until things improve.

It never ceases to amaze me that the die-hard Christians can think that this all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good desert sky god "to whom a thousand years is but an instant" (2 Peter 3:8), can somehow be so narcissistic to think that God is waiting on THEIR every word and prayer to do the right thing.

What kind of a passive-aggressive god waits for their constituents to PRAY before manifesting their will on the world?

Oh, right, one that is obsessed with death and guilt and having power over other human beings.

Loveschild appears to have fallen victim to the Atheist stereotype. It's okay, Loveschild. If the only atheists you see are those on television, it would only make sense you'd imagine them to fit a single-faceted mold. It might also surprise you to know that the principles that drive one towards atheism will tend to drive one away from vows of faith. Hence an avowed athiest is an oxymoron.

Regarding the Crazy Christian Lady and her prayer, for some reason, it reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episode Four O'Clock.

Meh. Every group of ideologues wants to win. The right wing wants to control every media outlet just like the left wing wants to control every media outlet just like evangelical Christians want to control every media outlet just like evangelical Atheists want to control every media outlet. Nothing new.

The goofiest thing is though, according to the most recent government statistics over 75% of the country is Christian, and the nutjob evangelicals just keep on acting like they're an oppressed minority and there's some massive sea of people out there who would readily convert if someone would just inform them that God and Jesus exist.

Whatever happened to praying in public being un-Christian? Matthew 6: 5-6 --

"5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
