Yesterday the Stranger Suggested: Chain and the Gang at the Comet Tavern

My ipod died last night, meaning the Stranger is henceforth responsible for my tuneful meanderings. Thankfully it was 7pm and I was about to catch a show at the Comet Tavern.

For folks who don't know, the Comet is said to be one of the few music venues in Seattle that hasn't changed much over the years, and it is a dive, which makes it all the more grand.

I managed to arrive around 9:30, wind beneath my wings and ready to undulate. Night Beats were already getting into it, and their tambourine tremblings put my limbs in motion. Their guitarist satisfied me with distorted riffs, the drummer almost stumbled out of beat, and my ridiculously hot friend Ennjoili allowed me to dance around her in circles.

A couple of drinks and awkward glances later, Lovvers took the stage. All the way from the UK, they charmed me as they collided into the audience with sweaty post-punk. The middle of their set lagged a little for me, but Lovvers started off with a bang and ended with a punch, I suppose I'll thank them for letting me breathe a little in between.
