Books Reading Tonight: Dinosaurs, Ghosts and Junkies

We have a woman who lived on the Canadian prairie and then a bunch of other readings tonight.

Two events as part of Pilot Books' Small Press Fest tonight. First, the poet Crystal Curry reads. You can read some of her poetry here. And then Tom Hansen will do a reading as part of a release party for his locally set drug memoir, American Junkie. I've been to Pilot Books twice in the last two days, and this is all I have to say: Free wine, motherfuckers.

Dan Simmons reads at University Book Store tonight. George Armstrong Custer's voice haunts a young Sioux warrior in Simmons's most recent historical novel, Black Hills. I loved his last historical novel, Drood.

Elliott Bay Book Company hosts David Shields tonight. Shields will read from his novel-crushing book of fragments, Reality Hunger. Have you read Charles's great piece that contextualizes Reality Hunger yet? You should.

And Jack Horner reads at Kane Hall this evening. Horner was a technical consultant on the first Jurassic Park movie. How to Build a Dinosaur is a book about growing dinosaurs without finding their DNA. This will not end well, but it sounds fascinating.

technically, you can infer the GATC sequences, if you have the descendants, but it won't really be the same dinosaur.

You can still go into the Burke Museum itself during the 25th Annual Dinosaur Day and see all the nifty graphic art stuff - all day Saturday! think the exhibit is there until March 15th or something.
