Re: Today in WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!?!?!

Posted by on Fri, Mar 5, 2010 at 5:07 PM

The Queen Anne residents who are up in arms about an undesirable, non-family-friendly mini-mart that's open until the unwholesome hour of 9 p.m. have already won part of their completely bogus battle.

Slog tipper Rob (of the STD) writes:

I walked by that QA minimart that turned all the helicopter parents into killbots—the booze/cigs signs are down and replaced by this. VICTORY!

I'm sure that those residents who were couching their "I hate these ugly signs" in "what about the children? alcohol/booze" are

I hope those who commented about how fortified wine and malt liquor lead to "chronic inebriation" are proven right and their lawns are ruined by drunk hobo piss.

It's bullshit like this that keeps my family outside the city limits of Seattle, even though it would be a hell of a lot more convenient for us to live there.

Translation:

Lucky people will email us stuff because nobody writing any these Stranger stories has set foot outside Capitol Hill. Least of all to visit Queen Anne.

What the? They're not REPLACED. That sign was in the original image you posted. The cigarettes/beer & wine signs may have been taken down, but this sign did not replace them.

ITS RIGHT THERE IN THE ARTICLE YOU LINKED

Yay for SlabFace, everyone's favorite urban beautification font! Who could possibly object to a merchant with the savoir-faire to plaster a storefront with it! (If there are any foolish holdouts, let acres of BrushScript be added to the mix!)

Upper Queen Anne couldn't even make Gordito's work. It still lives in the Reagan years.

"Local friendly mini mart" just means they are going to be selling poppers, butt plugs and dildos to the local teenagers.

"Very Queen Anne now," the owner said.
