Olympia Considers Improvements to 520 Bridge

Posted by on Thu, Feb 25, 2010 at 2:18 PM

Larry Lange at the seattlepi.com:

A state legislative committee Wednesday proposed lowering the height of a proposed new 520 Bridge and outlined more ways for Seattle to push for changes in the bridge design.

But an amended version of Senate Bill 6392, adopted by the House Transportation Committee, did not commit the state to reserving two of its lanes only for transit, as some in Seattle have asked. And the measure says the bridge must be done and open by 2014 as planned, whatever changes are made. ...

The amended bill calls for one working group to suggest alternative transit connections in a report by Oct. 1 and make transit-financing recommendations by Dec. 31.

never hurts to have half the campaign donations to both parties living smack dab next to the bridge, right?

And they said Mayor McGinn didn't have a chance ... hah!

Refining A+ was part of the program from the start, and I'm glad they're hopping to it. The more welcome tweaks they make to A+, the faster they cool the jets of those who are trying to fool the public into thinking rejecting A+ is the only possible action.

More, more!

I still have a soft spot in my heart for option K, but that's only if the tunnel is transit-only ...
