Thirsty for Lunch

Posted by on Fri, Feb 19, 2010 at 11:44 AM

As seen at Watertown Coffee on 12th Avenue this morning:

Eat me.
  • Eat me.

In case you can't make lunch, their weekend hours are "8 a.m. to whenever".

Ya whatever, I have seen this exact same thing at B&O on Capitol Hill and several trendy cafe's in PDX also.

I'm old enough to remember when the three-martini lunch was so common people thought you were weird if you didn't do it. Every day. And it wasn't uncommon for those three drinks to turn into four. Or five. Or even six.

And yeah, I like whiskey too.

Me too, but I've certainly been known to sit down with some Basil Hayden and do some real damage also.

I love whiskey and lemonade. I could suck whiskey-lemonades through a crazy straw all day long. Throw something green in there like basil or a little rosemary and you've got yourself a well-balanced lunch.

Gin. Dry Fly gin and tonic, with a lime.

Now that's living!

Whiskey and lemonade? I have never tried that. I've always liked mine straight. One of my goals this summer is to sit on the patio at the Pope House here in PDX and drink my way through their very extensive bourbon list and on to the Scotch, Irish, Rye ...

I think this a good weekend to open my Laphroiag.

Love Laphroaig. But must confess a love for Lagavulin too. The Islay malts are bold and cunning. Delicious.

So, I am going to open the Lagavulin and toast Slog and the beautiful debauchery that it so often is. Happy Friday.
