We're not on the Circuit yet..
...but we're getting closer all the time.
The site activates your webcam automatically; when you click “start” you’re suddenly staring at another human on your screen and they’re staring back at you, at which point you can either choose to chat (via text or voice) or just click “next,” instantly calling up someone else. The result is surreal on many levels. Early ChatRoulette users traded anecdotes on comment boards with the eerie intensity of shipwreck survivors, both excited and freaked out by what they’d seen. There was a man who wore a deer head and opened every conversation with “What up DOE!?” A guy from Sweden was reportedly speed-drawing strangers’ portraits. Someone with a guitar was improvising songs for anyone who’d give him a topic. One man popped up on people’s screens in the act of fornicating with a head of lettuce. Others dressed like ninjas, tried to persuade women to expose themselves, and played spontaneous transcontinental games of Connect Four. Occasionally, people even made nonvirtual connections: One punk-music blogger met a group of people from Michigan who ended up driving eleven hours to crash at his house for a concert in New York. And then, of course, fairly often, there was this kind of thing: “I saw some hot chicks then all of a sudden there was a man with a glass in his butthole.” I sing the body electronic.

It's true. One of the first apps for augmented reality will certainly be for people to tag themselves "single and looking" in meatspace instead of just on Facebook.

Chatroulette is one of my favorite things ever. The best chatrouletting can be had by: 1) Dancing

Wow. I just spent hours on chatroulette. With my girlfriends, it's nonstop giggling. Alone, well... let's just say that I've discovered that I have a little exhibitionist streak. And there aren't nearly as many shock photos and rickrolls as you'd think. Lots of cocks though.

A friend showed me an iPhone app that's like Gaydar but with GPS. It loads thumbnails of people who have the same app and are nearby. It not only shows a profile but how far away they are -- 400 metres, 1 km, 2 metres, whatever. Takes hooking up to a whole new low. Like going hunting at the zoo -- takes the thrill out of it.

chatroulette is ok. For my part I tried FaceBuzz and i think it's better. It's the same thing except it's faster and has a porn filter! If you get tired of getting dicks on your screen you should check it out!! :)

I love Omegle and Chatroulette. However, I wanted to be able to chat with strangers using my favorite chat software (iChat and Gmail). So I wrote my own stranger chat app - Social Butterfly.
Social Butterfly works over Google Talk (if you have Gmail, you already have Google Talk). So you can use it with your favorite IM client, even on your mobile phone. At the moment, it's text-only, but I may implement video in the future.
