Have They Passed a Health Care Reform Bill Yet?

Posted by on Fri, Feb 12, 2010 at 4:51 PM

Nope. However, fresh off his success at making good television out of arguing with Republicans over the wonky intricacies of this mess, President Obama is planning a televised health care reform summit at Blair House on Feb. 25—to, presumably, do more of the same.

Who's invited? Here's the list.

Maybe it will be more good television. Maybe not. Maybe it will help exhaust the idea that Obama hasn't tried to work, openly and transparently, with Republicans on this issue.

But in the end, it will still be Feb. 25, 2010—more than a year after Obama was inaugurated, way past the deadline he set for passing a historic health care reform measure, and only nine months before the congressional mid-term elections.

They were kind of distracted by the snow.

That and all the Republic Party of No members of the House that are retiring.

Besides, the Internet's tubes clogged up with the snow ...

Things just got even more interesting: Sen. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), the last Kennedy in congress, announced last night that he won't be running for re-election this fall.

May you live in interesting times.

Well, since the country hasn't completely changed in one year, then we should certainly hand Congress back to the Republicans this fall, since it worked out so well with them in charge over the past 8 years. After all, Roosevelt completely turned the country around by 1933, remember? Oh, it took more than a decade? Well, fuck that. Obama FAIL. Back to the Republicans, please. THANKS!

New York liposuctions

Overall, most of President Obama’s ideas are sound and well overdue. My biggest concern is that he is trying to move too quickly, with too many changes. People who are currently happy with their health plans may feel threatened and are vulnerable to misinformation. Politicians, unfortunately, have to worry about appeasing their electorate for the next election.

If it's "closed door" the media bitches about that. If it's televised everyone says it's a trap.
