Teabaggers Don't Know the Meaning of Irony

Posted by on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 1:27 PM

No, seriously. I bet they don't know the meaning of the word. But anyway, here's some scary Tea Party news: Ron Paul is apparently too mainstream for the Tea Party movement.

Paul, the Gulf Coast congressman whose 2008 presidential run excited libertarians nationwide, even though he didn't get much traction overall, is considered by many to be the "father of the Tea Parties." But he has three opponents in the March Republican primary — more than he has faced in his past six primary campaigns combined.

All three have ties to the anti-tax Tea Party movement. And while Paul remains the odds-on favorite to win re-election in his district, the crowded primary highlights the potential conflict between Tea Party activists and a GOP hoping to ride their wave to electoral success this fall.

"The Tea Parties have awakened a lot of everyday people here and across America," said Tim Graney, one of Paul's opponents. "And Ron Paul is worried about getting swept up in the anti-incumbent wave as if he is some exception."

I hear that one of Ron Paul's opponents is an audio tape that just says "I HATE TAXES" over and over again.

It's Texas. And not even a slightly crazy area of Texas, but an area that is full of insanity.

I'm not that surprised.

Yes, Paul, the people on the fringe always have been, and always will be, a complete joke. Oh, and that includes you, by the way.

Prosecutor: Something must be done! War would mean a prohibitive increase in our taxes.

Chicolini: Hey, I got an uncle lives in Taxes.

Prosecutor: No, I'm talking about taxes - money, dollars!

Chicolini: Dollars! There's-a where my uncle lives! Dollars, Taxes!

I'm not surprised voters are becoming disenchanted with Paul — he was so rude to Brüno.

@3 - I remember playing in the surf at Galveston and what fun the horseshoe crabs were. I stand by my statement.

Just sprinkle some magical libertarian dust on the problem and the money rolls in.

The teabaggers have just lost their last fucking marble. Ron Paul's stance against illegal foreign wars, non intervention in other countries' business and concern for civil liberties were just too much for them. No torture? No xtian doctrine for all? Legalize drugs? "Some conservative he is!" Ps Obama has seriously pissed me off for continuing the Bush policy saying it is OK to assassinate SUSPECTED terrorists that just happen to be, oops, AMERICAN. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!

And Jim, these teabag fucks are even further from libertarian doctrine than Obama. All they want is to quit paying taxes, make everyone go to a baptist church, and get the nigger out of the white house.

People voting based on ideology will always find problems with multiple people who want to steal the spotlight. Ideally if all you're voting on is a set of principals, nothing substantive just a banner that says "less government", you only need one candidate. Putting other people into the mix dilutes the message they're trying to send, they can all "uphold *only* the items in the constitution" but if they all try at once to the chances of someone in office who may want to...add a new amendment (if that's really the worst case scenario to them).

Voting based on an ideology seems troublesome for me, but then again voting based on specific issues hasn't exactly produced great results either. It would be really sad if they pushed Paul away from his seat, I think it would be a bad move for their party and likely the country. He's one of the last great anti-war conservatives.
