Suck it, haters! The world keeps spinning forward, and I'm glad to see it's finally crushing your black, ugly little souls.

Fer Shur. Hetero marriages in Iowa and New Hampshire are gonna have to hold bake sales out on their hetero lawns in order to keep their het bodies'n'souls together, on accounta them homos.

I initially read that as, "Efforts to strip same sex couples on their night to wed failed..." What two letters can do to a sentence.

Wow - I follow this stuff reasonably closely and I missed both those challenges! The f*cking bigots sure don't waste any time. The marriage equality fight is definitely going to to be two steps forward, one step back, for quite a while to come. But we'll get there.

In related news, Canadian's gay-friendly military is still fighting in Afghanistan and nobody cared who was straight, who was gay, who was bi, and who was single or married.

My favourite pick from the NH article comments:
homosexuality should be banned. Come on people, when you die what is going to happen? I don't know. But what if I am going to die and there is a god like in the bible and he puts me in he!! for not doing his will. I know people will call me an idiot, but I would rather be an idiot alive than a dead person in heck. Think about it people. Live a good and moral life according to the bible and if we die and just disapear from existance oh well, but if we die and there is a god then I feel sorry for all those people who lived in sin.

I'm looking forward to the day when our country catches up with the civility and decency of South Africa, Canada, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, and so on and so on and so on........

Good. But still obscene that this type of thing goes on in a supposedly civilized country in 2010.

Well, "Live Free or Die" is our state motto. New Hampshire-ites seem to have a low tolerance for interference in their lives. That's why so many of us die in car accidents because we weren't wearing seat belts :P

Yay Iowa! :)

I still think there may be reprecussions towards the Iowa supreme court. We have something called 'the missouri plan'; we appoint judges like the Federal gov't does, but every 10 years they come up for 'retention' on the ballot.

they are routinely retained, but that may change this year. 2 of the judges on the Supreme court (it was a Unanimous decision, btw) are coming up for retention in 2010.

I read this as evidence that people are basically conservative. If they don't have gay marriage, or if it's brand new, they are opposed. If they already have it, and it's been around long enough for people to notice that nothing happened to the straight marriages, well, they'd just as soon not deal with it again. Status quo, baby!
