The suspense was killing me. At about 8:15:45 I thought I felt chest pains. I felt so much better at 8:16:01.

What's most notable is that every single one of these self-imposed taxes is passing. Let's hope the legislature takes note that, even during a bad economy, the people of Washington (or at least King County) are willing to invest in our communities.

Dang.

They didn't count the two from my house.

Mailed them at 3 pm today.

I think the "No" side still has a shot. Let's wait and see what the late returns bring!

On a serious note, does anyone know how these school levies fared in other parts of the state? Sat Walla WAlla, Clark, Spokane Counties? Anyone know of a website that keeps track of those things?

Only 26% of Seattle registered voters have voted as of the time of the K.C. post. The other 74% just don't care about the children? I guess my reading of "The Homosexual Agenda" to the third graders is something I'll be doing by myself for a long long time.

smartypants @7: well the levy in Federal Way, is just barely losing, but your point is very well-taken: even in these times levies are passing (often quite handily). What does it take to get folks in Oly (i.e. Dems) to develop some spine?

Good catch, gnossos. I missed the close results in Federal Way.

The Secretary of State's web site has a map where you can click through to county auditor's offices at www.sos.wa.gov/elections/auditors.aspx.

I checked results for all the counties west of the Cascades and a couple to the east and found only four others that were losing: Battle Ground, Centralia, La Center and Washougal. Only Washougal was losing by more than a few percent. Most are winning with more than 55% of the vote.

I totally forgot that yesterday was voting day even though one of my local school district levies directly impacts where one of my kids will be going to high school -- at ten minutes before the polls closed, I tried in vain to make it in time to one of those drop boxes, driving like a bat out of hell only to get there two minutes late. The drop boxes had already been taken away, and there was a small group of hapless idiots like me circling around in hope we could still find a place to drop our now-useless ballots, in helplessly impotent humiliation...

There should be a story in the elimination of nearly all the drop boxes around the county. According to an interview yesterday with an elections official on KUOW, the county is saving about $100,000 from this -- primarily from reduced printing costs for a ballot insert listing the locations.

I ended up driving to the Records and Elections ballot processing facility by the Museum of Flight to drop off my ballot. Talk about confusing! The drop box was located in the corner of the back parking lot behind the building. Signage directing you to the box was very difficult to find and read in the dark. This needs to change before the next election.

I freaking hate hate hate the mail in ballots. I want my polling place back, with the machine that I feed my ballot into and the sweet old people and bake sales... :(

@13, 14

You could have mailed it at the regional Sea-Tac post office as well. You would have been able to mail it in anytime up until midnight.

I mailed my ballot the day after I received it.

Just wanted to be smug for a moment. Thanks.
