RuPaul's Drag Race Episode 2

Posted by on Mon, Feb 8, 2010 at 9:40 PM

This is your Stranger Slog Absolut Interior Illusions Joanna Fabrics Olive Garden open thread, people! And may the best commenter... WIN! My only comment this week: we spend so much time with the girls as boys in the workroom that I can't tell who's who when they're girls.

Discuss.

Glad to see that Pandora is safe. She and JuJu are so far my faves.

Too bad Tyra isn't threatened with elimination.

I keep trying to catch this show... Damn. Is it on some fancy pants premium channel? Can't find it on Brownstripe cable.

Duh, it's under R in the search. Tues 9-10 VH1. Phew. Dita is a guest judge. Adore her.

@Amy Kate - Is Brownstripe Cable owned by the same company that owns SkidMark Cable?

Is it wrong to say I want the fat girl to go now that she's lasted two episodes?

Tyra needed a good, firm slap to the face.

Love Rue Paul, but I guess this isn't exactly... You know big hair was a giant pain in the ass in the 1980's? Can I still love Rue Paul but not exactly...

Can I love the "Preppy Handbook" jacket reference?

I think Dita von Teese should have shown the girls how to do burlesque instead of some unknown pole dance instructors. It seemed like a waste of talent.

I still think they're all a little pretty- they look like dressed-up girls. In a good way, but still. Last season had more extremes. And Raven is getting on my nerves, she hasn't done enough to warrant her arrogance. But I am eager to see more...

Morgan is a little more intriguing than I thought, although she looks pretty much exactly like Mitzi from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Am I the only one who wants Morgan to die?

I approved of this elimination. Tyra was a monster, but she did bring it in the end. I'm certain that if her floor show had been a nightmare, there would have been slow, loving shots of it. I agree with Dan in that it's really hard to know who's who. So many of them look alike. I can spot JuJuBe, Pandora, and Raven. And Mystique, of course.
Speaking of whom...yes, it's time for her to go. I have no problem w/a big fat queen, but she's just messy looking. Looks like she'd smell of sweat and powder.
I'm going to be so sad when Pandora goes. I want to hang with him AND her.

@20: Like Dan, and you, said it is hard to tell them apart - I've had to go to the show's homepage where there are headshots with their names. And yeah, Pandora would be cool to hang with, and I think Jujubee would as well - both of them - either in or out of drag.

@18: Yes! I was thinking the same thing - it's Mitzi, but with less flair and heart.

Last week folks in comments were talking about how designing was, or should be, less important than how the girls perform. It seems that this week with the 'doll' challenge that was even more of the case. It felt like I was watching any of a number of design shows rather than "Drag Race".

Mystique and Tyra (and their little passive agressive alliance) can both go. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Tyra makes it through until near the end - since it seems to be a staple of reality shows to keep around someone that acts as a foil and that the audience can 'love to hate'.

Tonight I saw a bit of Sahara starting to shine through. I don't think that she's a strong enough of a contender to make it to the end. I do, however, think that Jujubee could.

I don't like Raven but her lipsynch for her life was awesome. The right girl went home. Nicole Paige Brooks was yuck.
