Only one reading today, but it's a good one.

Connie Willis reads today from her new novel Blackout at University Book Store. Willis is the author of many fun, thoughtful sci-fi novels, and Blackout is no exception: It's about historians in the future who travel back in time to experience history firsthand. One young historian winds up stranded in Britain during the Blitz, and things get complicated from there. Blackout is the first book in a two-book series; the second novel will be published this fall. You should check out this reading if you enjoy historical fiction or time travel fiction.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.

Oh man -- stupid Super Bowl...

Connie Willis' "Doomsday Book", about a time traveling historical expert getting trapped in a town infected with the Black Death, is a fantastic novel I've read and re-read many times...
