seattlepi.com is fast becoming a do-anything-to-generate-traffic site: celebrity fashion photo galleries, lolcatz, illiterate blogs by any yahoo who signs up to write one, etc.

There are some good journalists there. They must be embarrassed by what's happening.

According to google that story hit and died in 2007, toward the beginning of the American fascination with LOL Cats. Apparently neither newsworthiness nor timeliness really matter when it comes to *news* on the interwebs.
