State Dems Endorse DelBene

We've been a bit skeptical about Democrat Suzan DelBene's bid for Congress in the 8th District, but it sounds like the state Democratic party thinks otherwise.

From the DelBene campaign:

Demonstrating the strength of her campaign, this past weekend the Washington State Democrats voted unanimously to name Suzan DelBene the official Democratic nominee for the 8th Congressional District. DelBene’s campaign has shown financial strength as well. When Congressman Reichert’s financial report was made public this weekend, it was clear that DelBene maintained a significant cash-on-hand advantage.

Congressman Reichert’s fourth quarter fundraising numbers show DelBene with a nearly $300,000 cash-on-hand lead and a slight edge on total money raised in 2009.

The nomination sweeps aside rumored runs by two Democratic state legislators, Rep. Chris Hurst and Sen. Rodney Tom.

It's now, officially, going to be DelBene vs. Reichert.

She will still lose. It's pathetic we can't recruit a better candidate to run for this seat.

wasn't Reichert the guy who bankrupted our county?

1: You got that right. Gee, the presumptive Democratic nominee has raised more money than Reichert, so that MUST mean they're going to win? Hm, it seems like I've heard this before... Why are the Democrats so blind with this seat?

If Burner couldn't win in her second try during the Obama landslide, Del Ray or whatever her name seems to have a low percentage chance - but she may not have the same loser consultant or spokesperson.

The Dems would do much better to have a real primary - Del Ray will have NO experience going into the general.

Looks like Reichert is in for a third term. We could do worse.

You know, Eli, your previous article from May 2009 (I wonder if anything's happened since then?) didn't really offer much except that she didn't vote in a few elections. It'll be an annoying talking point but most people aren't going to give a shit.

Burner's errors were pretty much all self-inflicted late in the campaign.

In an anti-incumbent environment,a local business executive might be well positioned in this district.

Reichert's opposes any jobs package, any wall street reforms and any health care reform. No no no. That's going to be a useful bludgeon. He may cast some votes the other way at the margins but people are voting with their pocketbooks and he's got a crystal clear record as opposing anything to fix the economy.

He'll still be tough to beat, but I see DelBene as being a better, improved version of Burner.
