It still amazes me how fast all of the tow trucks swoop in on certain streets right before they become no parking zones for rush hour.

I hope they're being ticketed for being four feet apart.
What is up with people in Seattle parallel parking a half car length away from each other? That's why parking is such a problem.

I'm surprised the stranger doesn't have some webcam pointing out that window.

Obviously the cops are finally doing more important things than MJ busts.

About time.

I love how that poster wall basically exists to advertise to Stranger staff.

So... someone's getting a parking ticket.

Whee?

Did you have a point?

@2 No shit! This makes me positively apoplectic. Parking is a real bitch in my neighborhood, especially if you get home after 8. Yet every night I see cars with 3, 4 and 5 feet between them. People! You can maneuver out of a space with literally only inches in front and behind you. You're not going to get STUCK. Pull up to the bumper, baby!

@2, @7: quite so. In front of my house is a space that easily fits two cars without any trouble at all, but some twat in a minivan is always parking there right smack in the middle. I'm tempted to go out one night and paint lines.

Thank you @2 and @7... Nights and weekends at my old apartment used to make me insane with rage. WTF is wrong with people??? Now I have a driveway to which I profess my love every night as I arrive home late from work or class.

#6... I agree.
Who gives shit. This is the most mundane post ever.
Does someone actually paid to do that?

@3 I'm surprised they don't have a webcam pointed out the other window, towards the soccer boys.

..or do they?

Baconcat, are you sure?? Long, black limousines have got to be one of THE hardest vehicles to park. Man-oh-Manischewitz, it's a pain in the ass!

I'd thought I'd been in SF too long when my first thought "holy crap look at all the room!", but it appears parking 4' apart is universally loathed.

Fuck the Meter Maids, fuck 'em. That's just how I feel, man.

I like it when people get parking tickets. You deserve them.

the problem with ticketing for being too far apart is that you don't always know who parked there most recently, and therefore who actually left the excess space. in this picture it's pretty clearly the SUV's fault since there's a garage door entry right behind the car. other cases are tougher to judge though.

@8 - I leave notes, and I sign them. At least then they know they're shitty drivers.

I saw a cop give a guy a ticket for crossing against his sign even though there weren't any cars, it was out in front of the starbucks (har har har which one lolol). I couldn't believe it, the motorcycle cop started like yelling at the dude, so he stopped, and you could clearly see the exchange go on.

"Hey look what you did there buddy"
"Did what?"
"You crossed against the light"
"But that light isn't the law, I was in the crosswalk the whole time"
"Think again buddy, you're getting fined"

I feel so much safer now that seattle cops are on...pedestrians crossing in crosswalks, and the parking enforcers, I seriously think we have more of those than regular cops. Of course it's really only what I see, and certainly I'd be thankful if something serious went down and a parking officer just happened to be able to control whatever situation, but when cops are bored can we please have them looking for real crimes? Instead of pestering citizens for money all the time? Can they maybe help homeless people? I dunno something productive.

@7: yeah, *you* can maneuver with only inches, but good luck doing that to strangers - your bumper will be pockmarked in a few weeks. 6' is crazy, but 2-3' is totally reasonable when parking in the general public.

COMTE 25
Do we actually KNOW the vehicle is being tickets for "too much space between"? I would think not having a sticker or an expired sticker would be the much more likely infraction here.

Oh, and people in small towns get parking tickets too. I know. I'm staring at one I got on Thursday in some little burg outside of Bellingham.
